The Central Board of Secondary Education is set to announce the CBSE Class 12 result 2026 for the academic session 2025-26. Students who appeared for the board examinations can access their provisional marksheets online through the official CBSE portals. The result is expected to be declared in May, with media reports suggesting a possible release between May 12 and May 15, 2026, while officials have indicated the third week of May.

How to Check CBSE Class 12 Result 2026

Students can check their results through multiple platforms, including the official websites, SMS services, DigiLocker, and the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). The online marksheet will be provisional, and original documents will be distributed through schools later.

Check via Official Websites

To download the provisional marksheet, candidates must visit results.cbse.nic.in or cbse.gov.in after the result is declared. Follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Open the official result portal.
  • Step 2: Click on the CBSE Class 12 result 2026 link.
  • Step 3: Enter your roll number and school number.
  • Step 4: Click submit to view the marksheet.
  • Step 5: Verify subject-wise marks, grades, and qualifying status.
  • Step 6: Download and print the result for future use.

Check via SMS

Students can also receive their marks on mobile phones by sending an SMS. Type CBSE12 (roll number) (date of birth in DDMMYYYY format) (school number) (centre number) and send it to 7738299899. After verification, an SMS with subject-wise marks will be received.

Check via DigiLocker and IVRS

Digital marksheets can be downloaded from DigiLocker by logging in with username and password. Candidates must sync their Aadhaar details before accessing documents. Alternatively, students can use the IVRS facility by dialing 24300699 along with the area code. Calls are charged at 30 paisa per minute for a single roll number.

Passing Criteria and Supplementary Exams

To pass the CBSE Class 12 examination, students must secure at least 33% marks in theory and practical examinations separately. Those who fail in one or more subjects can appear for compartment exams, expected in July 2026. The supplementary results are likely to be declared in August 2026.

Historical Pass Percentage Trends

Girls have consistently outperformed boys in CBSE Class 12 exams. In 2025, the overall pass percentage was 88.39%, with girls at 91.64% and boys at 85.70%. In 2024, the overall pass percentage was 87.98%, with girls at 91.52% and boys at 85.12%. In 2023, the overall pass percentage was 87.33%, with girls at 90.68% and boys at 84.7%. The highest pass percentage in recent years was 99.37% in 2021, during the pandemic.

Examination Statistics

The CBSE Class 12 examinations for 2025-26 were conducted from February 17 to April 10, 2026. Over 18 lakh students appeared, including approximately 10.2 lakh boys and 8.3 lakh girls. The evaluation process was completed using an on-screen marking system.
