In the recently announced CBSE Class 12 results, girls in Himachal Pradesh have once again outperformed boys, continuing a trend of academic excellence. The overall pass percentage for girls stood at 88.4%, while boys achieved a pass percentage of 82.1%. This gap of over 6 percentage points highlights the consistent performance of female students in the state.
District-Wise Performance
The district of Hamirpur recorded the highest pass percentage at 95.2%, followed by Bilaspur at 93.8% and Una at 92.5%. On the other hand, the lowest pass percentages were observed in Kinnaur (78.5%) and Lahaul and Spiti (76.3%). Urban areas generally performed better than rural areas, with a pass percentage of 90.1% compared to 84.7% in rural regions.
Subject-Wise Analysis
In terms of subjects, students excelled in humanities, with a pass percentage of 91.2%, followed by commerce at 89.5% and science at 87.3%. The highest number of students scored above 90% marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Notably, the number of students scoring a perfect 100 in mathematics increased by 15% compared to the previous year.
Top Performers
The top three positions in the state were secured by girls. Ananya Sharma from Shimla topped with 99.2% marks, followed by Priya Verma from Solan with 98.8% and Riya Thakur from Mandi with 98.6%. In the boys' category, the highest score was 98.2% by Arjun Singh from Kangra.
Government Initiatives
The state government has attributed this success to various initiatives aimed at promoting girls' education, such as free textbooks, scholarships, and safe transport facilities. The Chief Minister congratulated the students and teachers for their hard work and dedication.
