Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday took full responsibility for the discrepancies in the CBSE Open School and Miscellaneous (OSM) examinations, assuring that no student's query would go unresolved. Addressing the media, Pradhan said, "I take full responsibility for the discrepancies that have come to light. Necessary steps are being taken to resolve all issues at the earliest."
Background of the Discrepancies
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had recently conducted OSM examinations for students who were unable to appear for regular exams. However, several students and parents reported discrepancies in the examination process, including issues with admit cards, exam centers, and result declarations. Many students took to social media to express their grievances, prompting the Education Ministry to intervene.
Pradhan's Assurance
Pradhan directed CBSE officials to immediately address all pending queries and ensure that no student suffers due to administrative lapses. He emphasized that the government is committed to the welfare of students and will take strict action against any negligence. "We will not tolerate any laxity on the part of officials. Every student's concern will be heard and resolved," he added.
Measures Taken
The Education Ministry has set up a dedicated helpline and a grievance redressal portal for affected students. CBSE has been asked to submit a detailed report on the discrepancies within a week. Additionally, special examination centers are being arranged for students who faced issues in the first attempt. Pradhan also announced that a committee would be formed to review the OSM examination process and recommend improvements.

Student unions and parent associations have welcomed the minister's intervention but demanded swift action. "We appreciate the minister taking responsibility, but we need concrete results. Many students have lost precious time due to these errors," said a parent representative. Opposition parties have criticized the government, calling the discrepancies a result of poor planning and negligence.
Pradhan reiterated that the government is student-friendly and will ensure that all examination processes are transparent and efficient. He urged students to remain calm and assured them that their academic future would not be compromised. The CBSE has also issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and promising a thorough investigation into the matter.
