CBSE Student Claims Physics Answer Sheet Swapped, Questions OSM System
CBSE Student Claims Physics Answer Sheet Swapped

A fresh controversy has erupted around the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as a Class XII student claimed that his Physics answer sheet was swapped with another student's during the photocopy access process. Vedant Shrivastava, a student from Delhi, alleged that the uploaded Physics paper under his roll number did not match his handwriting, answers, or presentation style, while his English and Computer Science sheets were consistent.

Student Raises Handwriting Discrepancy

In a series of posts on social media platform X, Vedant stated that his family and teachers immediately noticed differences after comparing the Physics answer sheet with his other papers. He wrote, 'The Physics answer sheet sent by CBSE is not my answer sheet at all. I know this is not my handwriting and it did not have the questions I attempted.' He emphasized that the handwriting style, letter formation, spacing, slant, and sentence flow were completely different, calling it a 'completely different writing.'

Impact on Marks and Eligibility

Vedant claimed that the discrepancy affected his aggregate marks and eligibility criteria. He said, 'I am awarded 50% marks for the answers written by some other student. Where is my real answer sheet? Where are my real marks? Because of that I am not getting 75% in PCM aggregate.' This has raised serious questions about the accuracy of the evaluation process.

Concerns Over On-Screen Marking System

The student linked the issue to broader concerns about CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which was introduced to improve transparency. He questioned, 'CBSE said OSM would improve transparency and fairness. But if answer sheets themselves are getting mismatched, then how are students supposed to trust this process?' He urged the board to verify his original physical answer sheet, audit the scanning and tagging process, and investigate whether answer sheets were exchanged during digitization.

In a later update, Vedant mentioned that ABP News had informed him that CBSE would take 'necessary actions' regarding the matter. This incident adds to the ongoing criticism of CBSE over portal crashes, payment glitches, and blurred scanned copies during the Class XII post-result process. The board declared Class XII results earlier this month, leading to nationwide complaints about evaluation discrepancies and technical failures.
