CBSE to Refund Students Overcharged Due to Glitches in Class 12 Post-Result Process

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will refund students who were overcharged due to technical glitches in the Class 12 post-result process. The board acknowledged that some students paid extra fees for services such as re-evaluation, verification of marks, and obtaining photocopies of answer sheets due to errors in the online system.

Details of the Refund

CBSE stated that the refund will be processed automatically for affected students. The board has identified cases where duplicate payments were made or where the system charged higher fees than prescribed. Students do not need to file separate applications for the refund; the amount will be credited back to the original payment method.

Technical Glitches Reported

Several students and parents reported issues with the online portal during the post-result process. Common problems included the inability to submit applications, multiple charges for the same service, and incorrect fee calculations. CBSE has apologized for the inconvenience and assured that steps are being taken to prevent such issues in the future.

Process for Affected Students

CBSE has set up a dedicated helpline and email support to address queries related to the refund. Students who believe they were overcharged but do not receive an automatic refund can contact the board. The refund process is expected to be completed within two weeks.

Previous Instances of Overcharging

This is not the first time CBSE has faced criticism for technical glitches. In previous years, similar issues occurred during the online application process for exams and results. The board has been working to upgrade its digital infrastructure to handle the high volume of traffic during peak periods.

CBSE advises students to regularly check their payment accounts and the official CBSE website for updates on the refund status. The board has also urged students to report any further discrepancies immediately.
