The Ernakulam district has recorded an increase of 0.47 percentage points in the overall pass percentage for the Class XII Higher Secondary examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. Despite this improvement, the district has slipped to the second position in the state rankings, with Idukki securing the top spot with a pass percentage of 84.64.

Performance in Technical and Open Schools

The district also registered encouraging results in the technical school category. Out of 447 students who appeared for the examinations, 357 qualified for higher education, resulting in a pass percentage of 79.87. In the open school category, 913 students appeared, and 554 qualified for higher education, achieving a pass percentage of 60.68.

School Authorities Express Satisfaction

School authorities from several prominent schools in the district expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of students. Sankaranarayanan A, principal of Edapally Higher Secondary School, told TOI that the school recorded an overall pass percentage of 86, with 24 students securing full A+ grades. “Overall, the school has managed to secure 86% results. Though many students found the mathematics examination difficult, the performance has been satisfactory for most students,” he said.

Mini Ram, principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam, noted that the institution maintained a stable performance compared to the previous year. “Like last year, nearly 80% of students passed the examinations, and 21 students secured A+ in all subjects,” she said.

100% Pass Percentage Achieved by Some Schools

Several schools in the district achieved a 100% pass percentage this year. At Rajagiri Higher Secondary School, Kalamassery, all 133 students who appeared for the examinations passed successfully. St Clare Oral School for the Deaf, Manickamangalam, Kalady, also achieved a perfect result, with all 23 students clearing the examinations.

Gender Performance Trends

Similar to the statewide trend, girls outperformed boys in the district. Across Kerala, 86.89% of girl students passed the examinations, while the pass percentage among boys stood at 68.41.
