The Gujarat State Examination Board has officially released the final answer key for the Teacher Eligibility Test–1 (TET-1). This exam targets candidates who want to teach students from Classes 1 to 5. The board made this announcement from Ahmedabad.
Grace Marks for All Candidates
In a significant move, the board decided to award three grace marks to every single candidate. This decision came because several questions in the exam had more than one correct answer. So, candidates will get marks for any correct option they chose.
Details on Question Papers
The issue affected different language mediums. The Gujarati medium paper contained six questions with multiple correct answers. For the English medium paper, there were seven such questions. The Hindi medium paper had eight questions with more than one right answer.
Exam Background and Process
The TET-1 exam took place in December. Its purpose was to recruit primary teachers, known as vidhya sahayaks. Online registrations closed on November 18. Candidates could submit fees via net banking until November 20. The actual examination happened on December 21.
A total of 91,627 candidates appeared for this important test. After the exam, the board first released a provisional answer key. They invited objections from candidates until the end of December.
Objections and Review
Initially, the board stated there were no errors in the answer key. However, about 1,100 candidates submitted objections against nearly 20 questions. These objections came with supporting evidence.
Subject experts carefully reviewed all the objections. They accepted valid representations from the candidates. Based on this thorough review, the board revised the final answer key. They published it on Saturday.
Impact of Grace Marks
The three grace marks will benefit every examinee. Since the TET-1 is a 150-mark paper, these extra marks could make a real difference for many candidates. The board expects to announce the results very soon.
This development brings relief to thousands of aspiring teachers across Gujarat. They have been waiting anxiously for this final decision from the examination authorities.
