Haryana Class 12 Pre-Board Exam Paper Leak Allegations Surface via YouTube Channel
With Haryana's Class 12 board examinations merely three weeks away, a serious allegation of question paper leaks has emerged from Gurgaon. A chemistry teacher has raised concerns after observing that students she has taught for years posted unexpectedly high scores in the ongoing pre-board examinations. This includes near-perfect performances in papers that are widely regarded as challenging.
Unusual Performance Patterns Raise Suspicion
The teacher reported that nearly 80% of students answered all multiple-choice questions correctly in the chemistry paper held on January 30. "I have a fair idea about the capacity of each of my students. I was very surprised when almost all MCQs in chemistry were answered correctly by many of the students. It was a tough paper," she explained. She added that no incidents of copying were reported at any examination centre during the test.
However, the pattern did not hold when students were questioned beyond the paper. "When I asked a few students to tell me the answers to the same questions by changing the value, they could not. They were also not able to recall the formula," the teacher noted. This discrepancy prompted further investigation into the source of the students' knowledge.
YouTube Channel Identified as Potential Source
Eventually, some students referred to a YouTube channel that frequently uploads question paper "suggestions". The teacher claimed she discovered large portions of the chemistry paper closely matched content uploaded just one day earlier on the Mahendergarh-based YouTube channel Education Party. This channel boasts over one lakh subscribers and is managed by a private tutor named Gautam Sharma.
Further checks allegedly revealed that the English pre-board paper from January 28 and the physics paper from February 2 also mirrored the same source. According to the teacher, nearly 90% of the questions in these papers matched the content uploaded on the YouTube channel.
Student Comments and Channel Owner's Response
Comments on the channel's videos added to the growing concern. Under the uploads, some users wrote, "same paper aaya tha, thank you sir" and "sach mein, aaj physics ke paper mein the same exact questions aaye the. Sir, you are great. Thank you, sir." The teacher asserted that the reaction of students, combined with the similarity in questions, strongly indicates a paper leak.
"This is a clear sign of a paper leak. But that's not the end. The YouTuber has claimed he will produce even the main board exam papers if his subscriber base increases," she warned.
When contacted by media, the channel's owner, Gautam Sharma, denied any wrongdoing. "We only tell students about important questions that are likely to be asked in the exam," he stated, claiming his channel is the number one resource for Haryana board exams.
Official Investigation and Statements
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda confirmed that the matter is being examined. "The YouTube channel is being probed. We will take all necessary action if the channel's owner is found guilty," he said.
Pre-board examinations are conducted simultaneously across Haryana, with question papers drafted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). The papers are distributed from districts to blocks and then to schools, arriving one day before the scheduled exam. According to established rules, the papers are to be opened only at the examination centre on the day of the exam and in front of students.
Professor Pawan Kumar Sharma, Chairperson of the Haryana Board of Secondary Education, revealed that he has spoken to SCERT Joint Director Sunil Bajaj to verify whether there was a security breach. He has urged the initiation of an investigation through the local district education officer and the Mahendergarh police chief.
"Officials have been asked to question the channel's owner and alert all education officers across the state to maintain integrity ahead of the board exams. The issue would also be brought to the Chief Minister's attention," he added.
Professor Sharma warned that such incidents "can undermine the credibility of the examination system". The Class 12 pre-boards began on January 22 and are scheduled to conclude on February 5, followed by practical examinations. The main board exams are set to commence from February 25.
