Madurai Class X Board Exam Results: District Ranks 19th

Madurai district has shown notable improvement in the Class X board examinations, securing the 19th rank among the 40 districts in Tamil Nadu. The results, declared on Wednesday, reveal that the district moved up from the 22nd position last year, reflecting enhanced academic performance. The overall pass percentage increased from 93.93% in the previous year to 94.91% this year.

Student Performance Overview

Of the 37,495 students who appeared for the examinations, 35,586 successfully passed, while 620 were absent. Girls outperformed boys by a margin of 4.27 percentage points. Among the 18,983 girls who appeared, 18,417 cleared the examination, achieving a pass percentage of 97.02%. In contrast, out of 18,512 boys, 17,169 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 92.75%.

Notable Achievements

All 53 inmates from the central prison who appeared for the examination passed. Among the 479 schools in the district, 196 achieved a 100% pass result. A total of 283 students scored a perfect 100 (centum) in at least one subject, including 132 in mathematics, 115 in science, 35 in social science, and one in Tamil.

Corporation Schools Performance

Of the 24 schools run by the Madurai Corporation — comprising nine high schools and 15 higher secondary schools — seven recorded a 100% pass result. A total of 1,976 students (568 boys and 1,408 girls) appeared for the examinations, of whom 1,813 passed, achieving a pass percentage of 91.75%. In corporation schools, two students scored centum in science, and one student secured full marks in social science. Several students also scored 99 marks in subjects such as Tamil, English, mathematics, science, and social science.

Recognition and Felicitations

Deputy Mayor T Nagarajan congratulated students and teachers from Corporation schools who secured second and third ranks at the district level. District Collector K J Praveen Kumar felicitated students and principals of government-aided and private schools that achieved top scores and 100% results, presenting them with certificates and shields. He also praised the contribution of teachers and parents in this success.
