Nagpur CA Results: 6.14% Pass Rate in Intermediate Exam

Nagpur CA Intermediate and Foundation Exam Results Declared with Mixed Outcomes

The Chartered Accountancy (CA) Intermediate and Foundation exam results, declared on Sunday, presented a mixed picture of success for the Nagpur zone. While the Foundation exam showed improvement over the previous year, the Intermediate exam recorded a modest passing rate that fell below expectations.

Exam Performance Statistics: Foundation Improves, Intermediate Lags

Out of the 391 candidates who appeared for the challenging CA Intermediate examination, only 24 managed to clear it, resulting in a passing rate of 6.14%. This performance has been described as below average by industry experts.

In contrast, the Foundation exam results registered a significant improvement, with a pass rate of 16.9% compared to last year's 12.36%. This upward trend in Foundation performance indicates growing preparation effectiveness among entry-level candidates.

Intermediate Exam Toppers: Inspiring Success Stories

Ujwal Pillare, an 18-year-old student, not only cleared the CA Intermediate exam in his first attempt but emerged as the Nagpur zone topper with an impressive score of 403 out of 600 (67.17%). Raised by a single mother who works as a househelp, Ujwal prepared through online classes after completing his schooling at Tilak Vidyalaya.

"Many warned me that cracking the CA exam is very difficult. But I always wanted to become a Chartered Accountant," Ujwal told TOI. He now aims to secure a good articleship position and eventually join a reputed firm.

Ketan Sonkusre, 19, secured the second position with a score of 378 in the Intermediate exam. Originally from Chandrapur and currently pursuing an IT course in Mumbai, Sonkusre chose CA despite his father's preference for automobile engineering.

"My father wanted me to be an automobile engineer, but I wanted to learn about money and taxes, which made CA my first choice," Sonkusre explained, detailing his combination of coaching and self-study preparation methods.

Foundation Exam Achievers: Determination and Family Legacy

Anujay Jain emerged as the city topper in the Foundation exam. Hailing from Keolari in Madhya Pradesh, Anujay rented a room in Nagpur specifically to attend coaching classes. Inspired by close relatives who are Chartered Accountants, he admitted to experiencing pre-exam jitters but managed to maintain focus throughout his preparation.

Vaishali Jena secured second place in her second attempt with a score of 313, demonstrating perseverance and improvement. Mahi Mandhani, 19, claimed third place with 307 marks, continuing a family tradition as she comes from a family of CAs including her father, two uncles, and aunt.

Expert Analysis: Need for Enhanced Analytical Skills

Former ICAI president CA Julfesh Shah described this year's Intermediate exam performance as below average compared to expectations. "It does happen sometimes, and it's unfortunate. Students need to develop analytical skills because questions are no longer straightforward, they are designed to make you think," he emphasized.

Shah's comments highlight the evolving nature of CA examinations, which increasingly test candidates' analytical abilities rather than mere rote learning. This shift in examination pattern requires corresponding adjustments in preparation strategies among aspiring Chartered Accountants.

The mixed results from Nagpur zone reflect both the challenges and successes within the Chartered Accountancy examination system, with determined students overcoming personal and academic obstacles to achieve their professional aspirations.
