NEET aspirant found dead in Sikar, suicide note recovered

A 22-year-old NEET aspirant was found dead in a suspected suicide in Sikar's Udyog Nagar area on Monday. Police recovered a note from the room in which the student purportedly wrote that he was "leaving this world."

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as Umesh Mali, a resident of Kari village in Jhunjhunu district's Nawalgarh area. He was living in a residential complex in Sikar with his mother, elder sister, and younger brother while preparing for the NEET examination. His father works in the tile business in Mumbai.

Examination Details

Police said Umesh was preparing for the NEET examination scheduled to be held on June 21. According to investigators, Umesh dropped his mother at their native village earlier in the day and returned to the flat while his siblings were away.

Discovery and Investigation

The incident came to light when family members returned home and found him unresponsive. They alerted the police, who shifted the body to a hospital mortuary. Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. During the investigation, police recovered a note in which the student apologized to his family. However, officials said the exact circumstances leading to his death have not yet been established. Police said a detailed investigation is under way.

Previous Incident

This is the second case involving the death of a NEET aspirant in Sikar since the cancellation of the NEET 2026 examination due to an alleged paper leak. In May, another student died by suicide, with family members alleging that the examination's cancellation distressed him.
