NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam on June 21: Key Changes and Continuity Announced
NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam June 21: Key Changes Announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, introducing several key changes while maintaining continuity for candidates. The decision comes after the original exam faced disruptions, affecting over 22.79 lakh candidates across 5,400 centres.

Key Changes for Candidates

Exam City Change Option

Candidates can now modify their exam city preferences through a dedicated portal. This facility is designed to accommodate those who have relocated after the initial exam, ensuring convenience and accessibility.

Admit Card Release

Admit cards for the re-exam will be issued by June 14, providing candidates with a full week to prepare for travel and finalize their preparations. This early release aims to reduce last-minute stress.

Continuity and Exam Format

Offline Mode Retained

The re-exam will be conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode in 2026. However, the NTA has confirmed that NEET will transition to computer-based testing (CBT) starting from 2027, aligning with global testing standards.

Extended Exam Duration

The re-test will run from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, adding 15 minutes to the usual duration. This extension compensates for time lost due to pre-exam formalities, ensuring candidates have adequate time to complete the paper.

No Additional Registration

Candidates are not required to re-register for the re-exam. Their previous registration details and fees will be carried forward, and any excess fees will be refunded. This streamlines the process and reduces administrative burden.
