NEET UG 2026 Re-exam on June 21: Multi-layer Security with Facial Recognition, Biometrics Deployed
NEET UG 2026 Re-exam: Multi-layer Security with Facial Recognition and Biometrics

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination has captured national attention as the government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) implement an unprecedented security blueprint to ensure a completely secure and transparent process. Following concerns over a paper leak in the earlier attempt held in May, authorities have left no stone unturned to restore student trust and safeguard the integrity of one of India's most competitive medical entrance exams. The re-exam is scheduled for June 21 and will be conducted across multiple centres in India and abroad under strict surveillance measures.

Multi-Layered Security Framework

To ensure no loopholes remain, the government has introduced a multi-layered security framework described as one of the most stringent in recent years. Over 500,000 security personnel are being deployed across exam centres, while advanced technologies such as facial recognition, biometric verification, and real-time CCTV monitoring are integrated into the process. In a striking move, even the experts responsible for setting the question paper have been placed under strict isolation. Officials state that these steps aim to eliminate malpractice, curb misinformation, and guarantee a fair examination experience for over 2.2 million aspirants nationwide.

Three-Layer Security at Exam Centres

Exam centres across India and abroad will operate under a three-layer security arrangement designed to prevent any breach or impersonation. Entry points will have multiple checkpoints where candidates undergo strict screening by security personnel and local police. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM in 551 cities across India and 14 cities abroad, ensuring uniform vigilance nationwide.

Technology Ensures Transparent Examination Process

Advanced technology plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and preventing malpractice in NEET 2026. Every examination centre is equipped with facial recognition systems, biometric attendance, and high-definition CCTV cameras with live feeds sent to the NTA control room in Delhi. Officials monitor digital platforms round the clock to counter fake paper leaks and misinformation effectively, as per strict guidelines issued.

Question Paper Security and Isolation Measures

To eliminate any possibility of question paper leakage, experts involved in drafting, translating, and vetting the NEET paper have been moved to a secure undisclosed location. They remain completely cut off from digital access, including mobile phones and internet services. Authorities are considering secure transport of question papers via Indian Air Force aircraft, along with strict monitoring of social media platforms to prevent misinformation.
