Odisha Students Shine in CBSE Class X Examinations with High Pass Rate
In a remarkable academic achievement, approximately 96.27% of the 65,204 students from Odisha who appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X examinations this year have successfully cleared the exams. The results were officially announced on Wednesday, bringing joy and pride to the educational community across the state.
Exam Details and Chief Minister's Congratulations
The CBSE Class X board exams were conducted from February 17 to March 10, 2026, involving rigorous assessments across various subjects. Following the announcement, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the successful candidates. In a post on X, he encouraged students to move forward with confidence, regardless of their results, and to remain prepared to face life's challenges with determination and strong morale.
Demographic Breakdown and Regional Excellence
A total of 34,726 boys and 31,478 girls from 741 schools across Odisha participated in the examinations, which were held at 272 centers statewide. Schools in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, as well as in Puri, demonstrated particularly strong performances. Several institutions reported achieving 100% first division results, highlighting the academic prowess in these regions.
Top Performers and Academic Achievements
Among the standout achievers, Teena Rath from the Puri campus of Mother's Public School scored a perfect 100%, securing full marks in English, social science, science, and IT, along with 99 in mathematics, resulting in an aggregate of 500 out of 500. The CBSE follows the 'best of five' rule for calculating percentages when students take six or more subjects, which benefited many high scorers.
Other notable performers include Ruhan Mohanty and Shreya Tripathy from DAV Chandrasekharpur, who each scored 99.8%, with full marks in mathematics, science, Sanskrit, and artificial intelligence. Lajpat Rai DAV and SCB DAV in Cuttack also recorded 100% pass rates. Kalpita Sabat of BJEM School achieved 99.8%, and Adweya Sarangi of KIIT International School scored 99.8%, with all students at the school securing first division.
From KIIT's Special Education Needs (SEN) Globe, Satwik Santosh Tripathy recorded the highest score of 95.4%. At SAI International School, Priyansu Pritis Dash secured 99.6%, followed by Soham Mishra with 99.4%. School chairperson Silpi Sahoo noted that the institute maintained exemplary performance, with 100% of students scoring above 60%, 43.2% above 95%, 69.4% above 90%, and 94.3% above 75%, resulting in an average score of 90.6%.
Regional and Institutional Performance Insights
The Bhubaneswar region, which includes Odisha and West Bengal, recorded an overall pass percentage of 94.67%, showing an improvement from 92.64% in 2025. In this region, girls outperformed boys, with pass percentages of 95.69% and 93.8% respectively.
Institution-wise, government-aided schools achieved a pass percentage of 62.5%, while government schools stood at 94.37%. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded impressive pass percentages of 99.92% and 99.43% respectively. As per CBSE practice, no official merit list is released, but the high scores and pass rates reflect the dedication of students and educators alike.
