Rohan Prasad of St Michael's High School, who aspires to become a cardiac surgeon, emerged among the top scorers in the science stream with 98.6% in the Class XII examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. He scored a perfect 100 in biology, 99 each in English and physics, 98 in physical education and 97 in chemistry.
Family Background and Ambitions
Born to doctor parents — Dr Rajesh Kumar, an orthopaedic surgeon and private practitioner, and Dr Rekha Prasad, a dental surgeon at Patna Dental College and Hospital — Rohan now aims to secure admission to AIIMS-New Delhi.
"I appeared for the NEET examination this year. I did my best and was hopeful that I would get admission in a govt medical college. Unfortunately, it was cancelled. Now, I am preparing again for the medical entrance examination," he said.
Preparation Strategy
Rohan added, "For the boards and NEET, I devoted 5-6 hours to self-study and attended four-hour online coaching classes in the evening. I maintained this consistently to achieve this success. Now, I have to give my best to NEET."
Commerce Stream Topper
Shambhavi of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, secured an impressive 98.2% in the commerce stream. Sharing the secret behind her success, she said: "For board examination preparation, apart from regular school hours, I dedicated 8 to 9 hours daily to self-study. Besides school, I created my own study routine and strictly followed it."
She credited her family and teachers for guiding and motivating her throughout her academic journey. Looking ahead, Shambhavi has set an ambitious target for herself. "In the future, I want to become a Chartered Accountant and create my own distinct identity and position," she said.
Arts Stream Excellence
Another outstanding performer, Atul Srivastava of DAV Public School, BSEB Colony, excelled in the arts stream with 98.4%. He scored 100 in geography, 99 in history, 98 in political science, 95 in English and 94 in economics.
"The main reason for my success was regular and consistent studies throughout the year. I made notes of whatever was taught in school and thoroughly revised them. I kept myself away from mobile phones and used them only when absolutely necessary," Atul said.
Future Plans
He has already applied for the CUET examination scheduled for May 20 and 21 and aims to pursue graduation in the arts stream from Delhi University, preferably North Campus. Atul, the only child of Nitin Mukesh, principal of a private school, and Nandita Soni, a homemaker, has set his long-term goal of preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
