PSEB Class XII Results: Three Girls Achieve Perfect Score

In a remarkable achievement, three students have secured 100% marks in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class XII examinations held this year. The results, announced on Wednesday, saw Supneet Kaur from Mansa, a science student, clinching the first position. Suhani Chauhan and Diwanshi, both humanities students from Ludhiana, secured the second and third positions, respectively. All three scored a perfect 500 out of 500 marks.

Overall Pass Percentage Improves Marginally

The state's overall pass percentage rose slightly to 91.46% this year, compared to 91% in the previous year. A total of 2.6 lakh students appeared for the exams, out of which 2.4 lakh successfully cleared them. This marks a modest improvement in the overall performance of students across Punjab.

Girls Outperform Boys Yet Again

Continuing the trend of previous years, girls outperformed boys in the PSEB Class XII exams. Of the 1,25,695 girls who appeared, 1,19,073 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 94.7%. Among boys, 1,23,676 out of 1,39,716 candidates cleared the exams, recording a pass percentage of 88.5%. Notably, all six transgender candidates who appeared also passed the examinations, showcasing inclusivity in the education system.

Rural Students Slightly Ahead of Urban Counterparts

Students from rural areas recorded a marginally higher pass percentage compared to their urban peers. Rural areas registered a pass percentage of 91.6%, while urban areas recorded 91.2%. This indicates a narrowing gap between rural and urban education outcomes in the state.

School Category and Stream-Wise Performance

Among school categories, non-government schools posted the best results with a pass percentage of 92.68%. Government schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.41%, while aided schools registered 88.44%. Stream-wise analysis reveals that commerce students achieved the highest pass percentage at 98.78%, followed closely by science students at 98.47%. Humanities students registered a pass percentage of 87.74%, while vocational stream students recorded 87.8%.

The PSEB Class XII results highlight the consistent performance of girls and the overall improvement in pass rates. The board's efforts to ensure fair and transparent examinations have been commended by educators and parents alike.
