Mohali: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to fully restore the pre-audit system, effective from July 1. Since government audit staff have taken over audit functions, the board ordered the closure of its internal audit branch, citing the absence of any independent requirement for the branch.
According to an order issued by the finance department (local fund accounts), Chandigarh, the decision aims to ensure efficient utilization of human resources and facilitate the smooth implementation of the board's ongoing financial records digitization project using Tally ERP 9 software.
As part of the restructuring, four employees of the internal audit branch would be permanently merged into other branches and sections of the board with effect from July 1. While Paramjit Singh, senior auditor, and Anupama, auditor, have been assigned to the TB Cell, Yudhveer Singh Chauhan, auditor, and Bhawandeep Singh, junior auditor, have been posted in the accounts branch.
The order directs the employees concerned to be relieved from the internal audit branch on the afternoon of June 30, and report to their new branches on the morning of July 1, 2026.
The board has also made it mandatory for the transferred staff posted in the accounts branch and TB Cell to undergo practical on-the-job training in Tally ERP 9 software from July. The training will be conducted by the board's authorized chartered accountant firm, with the objective of enabling employees to independently manage accounting functions on the software in future.
Further, the Board has decided to engage the firm for the digital recording of all financial transactions and accounting entries on Tally software from July 1 onwards. However, manual maintenance of accounting records and books by the accounts branch will continue alongside the digital system until further orders.
The board said the move is aimed at preparing financial records in a modern, efficient and error-free format while strengthening the digitization of its accounting processes.
