SSC Addresses Candidate Queries on CGL 2025 Tier-I Results
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has responded to candidate concerns regarding the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025 Tier-I results. Many aspirants reported discrepancies between their scores and the published cut-off marks. The Commission has now issued a detailed clarification to clear the air.
Why Candidates Raised Objections
SSC released the official CGLE 2025 Tier-I result document on December 18, 2025. Individual marks for both qualified and non-qualified candidates became available on January 9, 2026. Soon after, several candidates approached the Commission with complaints.
These candidates pointed out that their names were missing from the shortlisted lists—List I, List II, and List III. They argued that their scores exceeded the cut-off marks mentioned in the result notice. This situation caused confusion and anxiety among aspirants preparing for the next stage of the examination.
SSC's Comprehensive Review
The Commission conducted a thorough investigation into the matter. The review process examined category-wise cut-offs, candidate marks, and all shortlisted lists. After careful verification, SSC confirmed that the evaluation process was accurate.
The Commission clarified that List I, List II, and List III attached to the Tier-I result document are correct. These lists determine eligibility for the Tier-II examination. No errors were found in their preparation.
Error Identified in Cut-Off Table
While the shortlisted lists remained accurate, SSC admitted to an inadvertent error in Paragraph 5 of the result document. The issue specifically concerned “List-3 – Candidates shortlisted in CGLE Tier-I for appearing in Tier-II (Paper-I) for all posts other than Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II.”
The published table under this section did not display the correct cut-off marks. It also failed to show the accurate number of candidates available for certain categories. This incorrect information created a mismatch between candidates' marks and the released cut-offs.
Revised Category-Wise Cut-Off Table
To resolve the misunderstanding, SSC has issued a corrected table. The revised panel provides accurate cut-off marks and the real number of candidates available across categories.
Revised SSC CGL Tier-I Cut-Off Details (List-3)

No Change in Shortlisting or Selection
SSC has made it clear that this correction does not affect candidate selection or shortlisting. No names have been added or removed from the shortlisted lists. The clarification strictly aims to correct the published cut-off data.
Candidates whose names do not appear in the lists will not be considered shortlisted based on the earlier incorrect table.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Candidates are advised to rely only on official notices published on ssc.gov.in. Those who have qualified Tier-I should continue their preparation for Tier-II. Aspirants should also download and preserve their scorecards for future reference.
