Class 10 Student Gives Birth During Mathematics Board Exam in Madhya Pradesh
A shocking incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district on Tuesday when a Class 10 student delivered a baby inside the washroom of an examination centre while appearing for her Mathematics board paper. The event triggered widespread panic among staff and fellow students at the private school designated as the exam centre.
Exam Interrupted by Sudden Labor
The incident occurred in the Pithampur Sector-1 police station area. According to Dhar ASP Parul Belapurkar, the minor student had been writing her Mathematics paper for nearly two hours before complaining of severe stomach pain. She stepped out to use the washroom, where shortly after, the cries of a newborn alerted teachers who rushed to the scene.
School authorities immediately called 108 ambulance services and both the student and the newborn were shifted to a nearby community health centre. Doctors confirmed that the mother and child were in stable condition, with the newborn reportedly weighing approximately 2 kilograms.
Family Unaware of Pregnancy
In a surprising twist, police revealed that the girl's family was completely unaware of her pregnancy. Her mother told investigators they had no information about her condition and were utterly shocked by the development. The family stated that the girl had been engaged and they were expecting her marriage to take place soon.
"During questioning, the student informed police that the child's father is a youth from Betma with whom she had developed a friendship two years ago," said ASP Belapurkar.
Police Investigation Underway
A zero FIR has been registered at Pithampur police station and the case has been transferred to Betma police for further investigation. This incident has raised serious questions about adolescent health awareness and support systems in educational institutions.
The unexpected delivery during a crucial board examination highlights the need for better health monitoring and counseling services for students, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where such incidents might go unnoticed until critical moments.
