Tragedy Strikes Board Exam Centre as Teenager Collapses and Dies After Paper Submission
A somber atmosphere enveloped the Pandit Nehru College Part-two examination centre in Morena district on Tuesday when a 16-year-old student, appearing for her Class 10 board exams, collapsed and died shortly after submitting her Mathematics answer sheet. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised concerns about student health during the high-pressure examination period.
Sudden Collapse During Exam Conclusion
The tragedy unfolded around noon, just as the Mathematics examination concluded. According to eyewitness accounts, Varsha Kushwaha, a resident of Gwalior's Chak Budhara area under the Hastinapur police station jurisdiction, suddenly fell ill and collapsed while submitting her completed answer sheet. The examination centre head, Mahendra Kumar, along with other teachers present, immediately rushed to her aid.
Emergency Response and Hospital Transfer
The educators quickly transported Varsha to Banmore Hospital for urgent medical attention. Upon examination, doctors at Banmore Hospital determined her condition to be critical and immediately referred her to the larger Murar district hospital in Gwalior for more comprehensive treatment. Despite the swift response and transfer, medical professionals at the district hospital declared her dead upon arrival, confirming the tragic outcome.
Official Statements and Investigation Underway
Morena collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid addressed the media regarding the unfortunate incident, stating that authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. "We cannot speculate on the exact cause of death at this preliminary stage," Jangid emphasized. "The post-mortem examination is expected to be completed by Friday, which will provide conclusive medical findings."
Conflicting Accounts of Health Status
While preliminary discussions with officials suggested that malnutrition might have been a contributing factor, potentially triggering a cardiac event, family members have presented a different perspective. Varsha's uncle, Awadhesh Kushwaha, firmly insisted that the teenager was in good health prior to the examination, contradicting the malnutrition theory put forward by some officials.
The contrasting narratives have added complexity to the investigation, with authorities emphasizing the need to wait for formal medical documentation before drawing any definitive conclusions about the circumstances leading to this heartbreaking loss.
