Utkarsh Emerges as Uttar Pradesh State Topper in JEE Main Session 2
The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results for the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main on Monday, revealing that Utkarsh from Uttar Pradesh has secured the position of state topper. Utkarsh achieved an impressive 99.9 percentile, also referred to as the NTA score, in this national-level engineering test. This achievement follows his previous success as the state topper in the first session of JEE Main held in January, demonstrating consistent excellence in the competitive examination.
Nationwide Top Performers: 26 Candidates Score Perfect 100 Percentile
Across the country, a total of 26 candidates have topped the JEE Main by securing a perfect 100 percentile. The distribution of these top scorers includes five candidates each from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, four from Rajasthan, three from Delhi, two each from Maharashtra and Haryana, and one each from Bihar, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha. This highlights the widespread talent and competitive spirit among engineering aspirants from various regions of India.
Examination Details and Participation Statistics
The second session of JEE Main was conducted by the NTA between April 2 and 6, with an additional day on April 8. The examination was held in two shifts per day across 584 centers located in 319 cities throughout the country. A total of 11.1 lakh candidates registered for this session, out of which 10.3 lakh candidates actually appeared for the test, indicating a high level of participation and interest in engineering admissions.
Scoring System and Next Steps for Candidates
For candidates who appeared in both the first and second sessions of JEE Main, the NTA has declared the best NTA score from either session as their final result. This approach ensures that students are evaluated based on their peak performance. The eligible candidates from these sessions will now proceed to take the JEE Advanced test, which is scheduled for May. Success in JEE Advanced is crucial, as it determines eligibility for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Disciplinary Actions and Integrity Measures
During the second session, the NTA identified 57 candidates who were involved in unfair means practices. These violations included forgery of examination-related documents and possession of prohibited items such as mobile phones or written chits. As a consequence of these actions, the results of these candidates were not declared, underscoring the agency's commitment to maintaining the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
The announcement of these results marks a significant milestone for engineering aspirants across India, setting the stage for the upcoming JEE Advanced and the subsequent admission processes to top engineering institutions.
