A significant boost for green employment was witnessed in Chandigarh this week as the Renewable Energy (RE) Job Fair 2025 culminated in the distribution of offer letters to selected candidates. The ceremony, held at Paryavaran Bhawan in Sector 19 on Monday, marked a concrete step towards fulfilling the skilled manpower needs of India's rapidly growing clean energy sector.
Connecting Talent with Green Industry Leaders
The fair, which was originally organized on November 29 by the Chandigarh Region Innovation and Science Knowledge Park (CREST) in collaboration with the Chandigarh Skill Development Mission (CSDM) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), successfully brought together key stakeholders. A total of 10 leading renewable energy companies participated, offering direct recruitment opportunities to students and job seekers from Chandigarh, Punjab, and the wider Tricity region.
From a pool of 145 registered candidates, the rigorous selection process led to 35 individuals receiving formal offer letters. The breakdown included 21 internship offers and 14 regular job positions, with placements being made strictly based on the applicants' qualifications and suitability for the roles available.
Administration's Strong Commitment to Sustainable Futures
The event was graced by Saurabh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest-cum-Secretary for Science & Technology and Renewable Energy, UT Chandigarh, who served as the chief guest. The gathering also included officials from CREST, CSDM, CII, and representatives from the participating industries.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal distribution of the offer letters by the chief guest, a gesture that powerfully reinforced the UT administration's commitment to fostering green jobs and sustainable development. In his address to the assembly, Saurabh Kumar emphasized the escalating importance of renewable energy for Chandigarh and the broader national agenda. He stressed the urgent need for skilled human resources to effectively support India's ambitious transition towards clean energy.
Bridging the Skills Gap in a Growing Sector
Navneet Kumar Srivastava, IFS, the CEO of CREST, congratulated the successful candidates and underscored the fair's pivotal role. He highlighted that such initiatives are crucial for bridging the existing gap between the availability of trained professionals and the specific demands of the renewable energy industry. The event served as a practical platform, translating policy support for green energy into tangible employment outcomes for the local youth.
This RE Job Fair 2025 stands as a model for how strategic collaboration between government bodies, industry consortia, and skill development missions can directly contribute to economic growth aligned with environmental goals. It provides a clear pathway for young professionals in the region to build careers in one of the most promising and future-oriented sectors of the economy.
