Gautam Buddha University (GBU) in Noida has announced the introduction of five new academic programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. The university has also opened admissions for over 4,000 seats across 152 courses offered by its eight schools.
New Academic Programmes
The newly introduced courses include an MSc in Nuclear Medicine, offered in collaboration with Max Healthcare Institute, and an MSc in Geospatial and Data Science. Additionally, two diploma programmes have been added: an Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling, approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, and a postgraduate diploma in Heritage Restoration and Management, developed in collaboration with the Central Building Research Institute in Roorkee. A certificate programme in Gym Management is also among the new offerings.
Academic Dean of GBU, Rajiv Varshney, stated, “The programmes are designed to meet the emerging demand of the market. As per the CBSE guidelines, every school must have a child counsellor, and GBU is going to lead in providing the resources to the schools.”
Seat Distribution
A total of 4,077 seats are available across all programmes this year. This includes 2,620 seats in 55 undergraduate courses and 1,265 seats in 61 postgraduate courses. In addition, 70 seats are available in diploma and certificate programmes, and 102 seats in 21 PhD programmes. The university is also offering 12 lateral-entry options.
Admission Process
Admissions will be conducted through three routes depending on the course: direct admission, the university’s entrance test (GBU-ET 2026) for select programmes such as BSc (Hons) Clinical Psychology, MBA, LLM, and PhD, and national or state-level examinations including CUET, CAT, MAT, NATA, CLAT, and JEE.
From the 2026-27 session, GBU will admit students through the CUET system for the first time. Up to 50% of seats are to be filled based on CUET scores. The university has also shifted its admission process to the Samarth portal for the upcoming academic cycle.
Scholarships and Fee Concessions
The university has announced new entrance scholarships for first-year students in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, along with provisions for academic progression scholarships in subsequent years. A 20% tuition fee concession is available for students from schools affiliated with the Noida and Greater Noida Education Society.
NEP 2020 Implementation and Collaborations
Vice Chancellor Rana Pratap Singh said, “GBU has also implemented provisions of National Education Policy 2020 in its academic structure. It has ongoing collaborations and research linkages with multiple organisations, including Monash University, and has signed more than 40 MoUs with national and international institutions.”
With these new initiatives, GBU aims to provide quality education and meet the evolving demands of the job market.
