The Gujarat government is set to announce the launch of the Namo Gujarat Kaushalya and Rojgar Mission (NGKRM), a comprehensive initiative aimed at skilling workers across the state. A sum of Rs 226 crore has been allocated for the implementation of this scheme for the fiscal year 2026-27.
Reskilling, Upskilling, and New-skilling (RUN) Initiative
As part of the mission, the Reskilling, Upskilling, and New-skilling (RUN) initiative has been introduced. This program is designed to enhance employee skills, enabling them to adapt to the changing demands of industry. A notification issued in this regard on Saturday stated that the initiative will focus on updating the workforce with relevant competencies.
Nodal Agency for Implementation
The notification further clarified that the office of the director, skill development will serve as the nodal agency for implementing the scheme. This agency will oversee the execution and ensure that the objectives of the mission are met effectively.
The Namo Gujarat Kaushalya and Rojgar Mission represents a significant step by the state government to boost employability and address skill gaps in the labor market. With a substantial budget allocation, the initiative aims to train a large number of workers, preparing them for future opportunities in various industries.
