The Indian Air Force has officially launched the recruitment drive for the next batch of Agniveervayu personnel. Starting today, January 12, 2026, unmarried Indian youth can submit their applications online for the Agniveervayu Intake 01/2027, a crucial component of the central government's Agnipath Scheme.
Key Dates and Application Process
Aspiring candidates have a limited window to apply. The online registration portal will remain active until February 1, 2026, at 11:00 PM. It is critical to note that the IAF will accept only online applications, completely doing away with any offline form submissions.
The selection process kicks off with an online examination scheduled for March 30 and March 31, 2026. Admit cards for this test will be made available to candidates 48 to 72 hours prior to the exam date.
To apply, candidates must visit the official portal at iafrecruitment.edcil.co.in. The process involves registration with a valid email and mobile number, OTP verification, filling in personal and educational details, uploading necessary documents, and paying the application fee.
Eligibility Criteria and Selection Stages
The opportunity is open to unmarried male and female candidates who meet specific criteria. Applicants must have been born between January 1, 2006, and July 1, 2009, ensuring they are a maximum of 21 years old at the time of enrolment.
On the educational front, the IAF has outlined three pathways. Candidates are eligible if they have passed Class 12 (10+2) with Science subjects (Physics, Mathematics, and English). Alternatively, those who have passed Class 12 in any stream or hold a Diploma or vocational qualification can also apply.
The selection is a multi-phase rigorous process. Phase I consists of an online written test. Successful candidates will then proceed to Phase II, which includes a Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Tests, and document verification. The final Phase III is a comprehensive medical examination.
Service Terms, Benefits, and Important Advice
Selected candidates will serve as Agniveervayu for a period of four years. The financial package is attractive, with a starting monthly salary of ₹30,000, coupled with yearly increments. Upon completion of the four-year service term, eligible personnel will receive a Seva Nidhi package of approximately ₹10.04 lakh.
A significant career progression opportunity exists, as up to 25% of the Agniveervayu batch may be considered for enrolment into the regular cadre of the Indian Air Force, subject to the service's requirements and policies.
Aspiring applicants must pay an application fee of ₹550 plus 18% GST, which is non-refundable. The IAF has advised candidates to apply well before the deadline, as no extension of the registration dates will be granted. All communication and updates will be hosted on the official website, and candidates are urged to refer only to that for accurate information regarding syllabus, eligibility, and any new announcements.
