NLC India Limited has officially commenced its recruitment drive for apprentice positions for the upcoming training year. The state-owned mining and power generation company has announced a significant opportunity for fresh graduates and diploma holders, inviting applications for a total of 575 apprenticeship training slots. The online registration process is now live on the company's official portal.
Vacancy Details and Discipline-wise Distribution
The NLC Apprentice recruitment 2025 encompasses a wide array of engineering and non-engineering streams. The vacancies are split into two primary categories: Graduate Apprentice and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice. A detailed breakdown reveals 357 openings for Graduate Apprentices and 218 for Technician Apprentices.
The discipline with the highest number of slots is Mechanical Engineering, offering 94 positions for graduates and 57 for diploma holders. This is followed by Electrical Engineering with 93 and 66 slots, respectively. Other major disciplines include Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Mining Engineering. Notably, non-engineering fields such as Medical Laboratory Technology, Catering Technology and Hotel Management, and Pharmacist also feature in the Technician Apprentice category, with 5 slots each.
Eligibility Criteria and Key Requirements
Prospective candidates must carefully review the eligibility conditions set by NLC India. A primary requirement is domicile; applicants must belong to the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, or the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Academic qualifications are strictly defined. For Graduate Apprentice roles, a full-time Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognised university or institution is mandatory. For Technician Apprentice roles, a full-time Diploma in Engineering or Technology is required. Crucially, the qualifying degree or diploma must have been completed in the years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
Additional conditions include that applicants should not have previously undergone or be currently undergoing apprenticeship training with NLC or any other organisation. Age limits will adhere to the Apprenticeship Rules, and government-mandated reservation norms for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD categories will be applicable.
Stipend, Selection Process, and Application Procedure
Selected candidates will receive a competitive monthly stipend for the duration of their apprenticeship. Graduate Apprentices will be paid ₹15,028 per month, while Technician Apprentices will receive ₹12,524 per month. It is important to note that a portion of this stipend (₹4,500 for Graduates and ₹4,000 for Technicians) is contributed by the Government under its Direct Benefit Transfer scheme.
The selection process is merit-based and straightforward. Candidates will be shortlisted based on the percentage of marks obtained in their qualifying degree or diploma. In case of a tie, preference will be given to the older candidate based on date of birth. The company explicitly states that successful completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee any employment with NLC India Limited thereafter.
Interested and eligible candidates must apply online at the official website, nlcindia.in, under the Careers section. The application window is open from December 19, 2025 (10:00 AM) to January 2, 2026 (5:00 PM). After online submission, a signed hard copy of the application along with self-attested documents must be physically mailed to the Office of the General Manager, Learning and Development Centre in Neyveli by January 9, 2026 (5:00 PM).
