The city of Surat has etched its name in the annals of academic excellence with two of its coached students securing coveted positions in the national Top 10 of the CMA Foundation examination. The results, declared on Thursday, spotlight an extraordinary tale of grit as Rahul Vaishnav, whose father runs a mobile ice-cream cart, clinched All India Rank (AIR) 4. His fellow student from the Surat coaching circuit, Dishant Vakhariya, followed closely, achieving an impressive AIR 8.
From Ice-Cream Cart to National Acclaim: Rahul's Gruelling Routine
Hailing originally from Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, Rahul Vaishnav grew up in Navsari. For over a year, his pursuit of the Cost Accountancy dream involved a punishing daily schedule. He would catch the 9:30 am train from Navsari to Surat to attend classes at Ravi Chhawchharia's Institute. After coaching, his quest for knowledge continued at the Narmad Library before the evening journey back.
"My biggest motivation was seeing my parents work day and night for more than two decades. I felt I should repay their sacrifices with the best possible results," Vaishnav shared. His commitment didn't end with the return home. He would assist his father at the vehicle-mounted ice-cream cart, reach home around midnight, and then revise his studies until 2 am.
A product of Seventh Day Adventist School in Navsari and currently a BCom student, Vaishnav's aspirations are sky-high. He aims to complete both the CMA and CA qualifications and eventually establish his own CA firm. His elder brother is also on a similar professional path, pursuing ACCA.
Discipline and Consistency: The Mantra for AIR 8 Holder Dishant
Dishant Vakhariya, who secured the eighth rank nationally, attributed his success to unwavering discipline and a structured approach. "Daily revision and consistent study made the difference," Vakhariya stated, outlining his clear future plan. He intends to gain corporate experience after completing his CMA and CA certifications before taking the entrepreneurial leap to start his own firm.
Surat Chapter Celebrates Stellar Results
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) Surat chapter is basking in the glory of this dual achievement. Chapter president Kishor Vaghela revealed that out of 593 students from Surat who appeared for the CMA Foundation exam this year, a remarkable 496 cleared it. "We are extremely proud of Rahul and Dishant. Rahul scored 362 marks and Dishant 348 marks, earning them a place among the Top 10 CMA Foundation rankers across India," Vaghela said, highlighting the city's growing reputation as a coaching hub for professional courses.
The stories of Rahul Vaishnav and Dishant Vakhariya transcend mere academic success. They stand as powerful testaments to how relentless perseverance, fuelled by familial sacrifice and personal discipline, can overcome socioeconomic barriers and lead to national recognition.
