Ahmedabad: Over 13,000 students who have already cleared their board examinations will reappear for the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) supplementary exams scheduled from June 11 to June 20. This move is aimed at boosting their scores under the state's 'Best of Two' policy.
Trend Driven by Science Students
This trend is predominantly driven by Class 12 science students, with approximately 11,000 candidates seeking to improve their percentile ranks. The goal is to secure seats in premier medical, paramedical, and engineering colleges. Additionally, nearly 2,000 Class 10 students and 400 Class 12 general stream students will also reappear to upgrade their scores.
Overall Registration Numbers
Overall, about 1.94 lakh students have registered for the supplementary exams this year. This includes 1.23 lakh Class 10 students, nearly 30,000 from Class 12 science, and over 40,000 from the general stream.
Urban Centres Lead
Major urban centres account for the bulk of the candidates. Ahmedabad leads with over 28,000 students, followed by Surat (over 16,000), Vadodara (over 13,000), and Rajkot (over 8,000).
Evaluation and Results
The evaluation process will begin on a priority basis immediately after the exams conclude on June 20. The board aims to declare results early to ensure students can secure timely higher education admissions for the current academic year. All administrative arrangements at exam centres have been completed.
