Chennai: Schools under the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) have shown a notable improvement in the Class XII board examination results this year, with the overall pass percentage climbing to 92.26% from 88.12% in the previous academic year. According to the corporation's education department, a total of 5,179 students—comprising 2,257 boys and 2,922 girls—from 35 corporation higher secondary schools appeared for the state board examinations. Of these, 4,778 students successfully cleared the exams.
Gender-wise Performance
The pass percentage among boys stood at 89.85%, while girls recorded a significantly higher pass rate of 94.11%. This reflects a continuing trend of better performance by female students in these schools.
Top Scorers and Centum Achievers
A total of 173 students secured perfect centum scores across various subjects, including computer applications, computer science, accountancy, economics, business mathematics, food service management, textile and dress designing, and auditing. Overall, 43 students scored between 551 and 600 marks, while 241 students secured marks in the range of 501 to 550. Another 543 students achieved scores between 451 and 500 marks.
Leading Schools
Among the corporation schools, Pulla Avenue Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School topped the list with a remarkable 593 out of 600 marks. Perambur MH Road Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School secured the second position with 586 marks, followed by Perambur Market Street Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School with 583 marks. Two schools—Nungambakkam Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School and CIT Nagar Chennai Higher Secondary School—recorded a perfect 100% pass result.
