The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling for JEE Advanced 2026 is scheduled to commence on June 2, 2026. The process will begin at 5 pm, with registration and choice filling open until June 11. This counselling session facilitates admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have qualified in JEE Advanced 2026 are eligible for admission to IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, candidates must hold a valid JEE Main rank. It is essential for applicants to verify their eligibility before proceeding with registration.
Seat Allotment Process
The first seat allotment result will be declared on June 13. JoSAA will conduct a total of five rounds of seat allocation. To assist candidates in refining their preferences, mock allotments will be held on June 8 and June 10. These mock exercises allow students to simulate the allocation process and make informed choices.
Post-Allotment Steps
After each allotment round, candidates must accept the allocated seat, upload required documents, and pay the requisite fees. Additionally, they need to choose among three options: Freeze (accept the seat and exit further rounds), Float (accept the seat but remain open for upgrades), or Slide (accept the seat and allow upgrade only within the same institute or course category).
Required Documents
Candidates must keep the following documents ready before counselling begins: JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard, JEE Main 2026 scorecard (if applicable), class 10 and 12 mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), identity proof (such as Aadhaar card, passport, or school ID), and recent passport-sized photographs. Failure to provide valid documents may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.
