In a remarkable achievement, seventy-six aspirants from the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) have successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 mains. They have now qualified for the crucial personality test, which is the final interview round.
A Significant Leap in Success Rate
The state government announced this milestone on Monday, highlighting a substantial jump from the previous year. The number of successful candidates from the 2024-25 main exam training batch is 76, a significant increase from the 49 who qualified last year. This impressive performance contributes to a three-year total of 160 SPIPA trainees who have reached the personality test stage, underscoring the institute's growing effectiveness in UPSC coaching.
Comprehensive Training and Expert-Led Mock Interviews
The UPSC Civil Services Study Centre at SPIPA in Ahmedabad, operational since 1992, is credited for this consistent success. The institute provides an all-encompassing preparation strategy. A key component is the intensive training for the personality test, which includes detailed lectures, interactive group discussions, and personalized one-on-one interview sessions.
The program's crown jewel is its specialized mock interview process. These simulations are conducted by a high-powered committee comprising five or six seasoned officers from prestigious services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), along with expert academic lecturers. To ensure maximum learning, the entire mock interview is videographed. This allows trainees to critically review their own performance, body language, and responses, and meticulously implement the detailed feedback provided by the expert panel for continuous improvement.
Financial Incentives and Support for Aspirants
Recognizing the financial challenges faced by many civil service aspirants, SPIPA offers substantial monetary support to its trainees. Upon admission to the training programme, candidates receive a monthly incentive of Rs 2,000 for a period of up to seven months. Furthermore, upon successfully clearing the UPSC preliminary exam, trainees are granted a significant grant: Rs 25,000 for male candidates and an enhanced Rs 30,000 for female candidates. The institute also provides cash rewards to students who pass the demanding UPSC main examination, easing their financial burden during the intensive preparation phase.
This multi-faceted approach—combining rigorous academic training, realistic interview simulations with top bureaucrats, and meaningful financial aid—has positioned SPIPA's UPSC centre as a leading hub for producing India's future civil servants from Gujarat.
