Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The Railway Recruitment Board conducts the Group D examination in multiple stages for recruitment to various Level-1 posts. The first stage is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted at different examination centres across India. This online examination is the most important stage as candidates are shortlisted for further rounds based on their performance.

The CBT consists of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 100 marks. Candidates are given 90 minutes to complete the examination, while PwBD candidates using a scribe receive 120 minutes. The exam includes negative marking, with 1/3 mark deducted for every wrong answer. The question paper is divided into four sections: General Science (25 questions), Mathematics (25 questions), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 questions), and General Awareness & Current Affairs (20 questions).

Candidates who qualify in the CBT are called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature. After clearing PET, candidates have to appear for Document Verification and Medical Examination. The final selection and merit list are mainly prepared based on CBT marks for candidates who successfully qualify all other stages.

Next Steps After Result

Post declaration of RRB Group D results, candidates who clear the CBT are shortlisted for further stages. The next steps include:

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Qualifying in nature, with separate requirements for males and females.
  • Document Verification (DV): Candidates must carry original educational certificates, identity proof, category certificates, etc.
  • Medical Examination: To assess medical fitness as per Indian Railways requirements.

Finally, after all selection rounds, the final merit list is drawn and appointment orders are issued to successful candidates by their concerned Regional RRB.
