The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the schedule for the crucial Tier 2 examination of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 recruitment cycle. This next phase is scheduled to be conducted on January 18 and January 19, 2026, at various examination centres spread across India.
Massive Number of Candidates Qualify for Next Round
A staggering total of 1,39,395 candidates have successfully cleared the Tier 1 stage and are now eligible to appear for the Tier 2 examination. These candidates are competing for various Group B and Group C posts within central government ministries and departments. The Tier 1 results and merit list are already available on the official SSC website for candidates to verify.
The break-up of qualifiers for specific posts reveals interesting figures. For the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO), a total of 6,196 candidates have qualified. Meanwhile, 2,781 candidates have cleared the Tier 1 stage for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade II. For all other posts combined under the SSC CGL umbrella, a massive pool of 1,30,418 candidates has moved forward to the Tier 2 stage.
Category-Wise Cut-Off Marks for Tier 1
The Commission has published the minimum qualifying marks required in Tier 1 to be shortlisted for Tier 2. Candidates must check these cut-offs carefully to confirm their eligibility. The cut-off marks vary significantly across different categories and posts.
For the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post, the cut-off for the Unreserved (UR/General) category stands at 153.46108 marks. The cut-offs for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) are 153.46108 and 151.58638 respectively. For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories, the cut-offs are 137.29518 and 136.40211.
In the Statistical Investigator Grade II category, the General category cut-off is 152.47231. The OBC and EWS cut-offs are 150.51402 and 152.14666 respectively.
For all other posts combined, the General category cut-off is 136.83159. The OBC and EWS cut-offs are 130.36617 and 127.41630. Candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories needed to score at least 114.97063 and 106.36936 marks respectively to qualify.
Candidates who have scored equal to or above these category-specific cut-off marks have successfully advanced to the Tier 2 examination. The final selection will depend on the cumulative performance in Tier 2 and any subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
Exam Day Protocol and What Comes Next
All eligible candidates must appear for the Tier 2 examination on the announced dates. It is mandatory for candidates to carry their admit card along with a valid photo ID proof to the designated exam centre. The examination will be conducted strictly as per the rules and guidelines mentioned in the official SSC CGL notification.
Following the completion of the Tier 2 exam, the SSC will declare the results on its official website. Candidates who are shortlisted based on their Tier 2 performance may then be called for further stages of the selection process. These subsequent stages typically include document verification and, for certain specific posts, additional tests like skill tests or computer proficiency tests.
The final merit list for the SSC CGL 2025 recruitment will be prepared by combining the marks obtained by candidates in Tier 1, Tier 2, and any other required stage. The Commission advises all candidates to regularly check the official SSC website for the latest updates on results, cut-off marks, and any other important notifications related to the recruitment drive.
