Hyderabad: Girls outperformed boys in both streams of the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) 2026, the results of which were released on Sunday, with 1,44,704 candidates qualifying in the Engineering stream and 73,294 in the Agriculture and Pharmacy (A&P) stream.
Performance Gap Between Streams
The results highlighted a sharp performance gap between the two streams, with the A&P stream recording a significantly higher pass percentage than Engineering. In the Engineering stream, 1,44,704 candidates qualified out of 1,97,242 who appeared, taking the pass percentage to 73.36%, a marginal increase from 73.26% in 2025 but lower than 74.98% in 2024. In contrast, the A&P stream recorded a much higher qualifying rate of 86.27%, with 73,294 candidates clearing the exam out of 84,954 who appeared. However, this marks a decline from 87.82% in 2025 and 89.67% in 2024.
Gender Performance
In Engineering, 73.72% of girls qualified compared to 73.10% of boys, while in A&P, 86.76% of girls cleared the test against 84.70% of boys.
Top Rankers
In the Engineering stream, M Rushi from Uppal in Medchal district secured the first rank with 156.65 marks out of 160. In the A&P stream, Mukkaram Ahmed from Hyderabad topped with 150.17 marks.
Registration and Announcement
A total of 2,10,766 candidates registered for Engineering and 90,977 for A&P. The results were announced by the government chief adviser K Keshava Rao, chairman of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) V Balakista Reddy, education secretary Yogitha Rana, Technical Education Commissioner Sridevasena, and JNTUH vice-chancellor T Kishen Kumar Reddy, in the presence of TG EAPCET convenor K Vijaya Kumar Reddy.
Examination and Answer Key
The examination was conducted in multiple phases, with the A&P stream held on May 4 and 5, and the Engineering stream conducted from May 9 to 11 across the state. The test was organised in computer-based mode at designated centres. The preliminary answer key for the A&P stream was released on May 11 at 11.30 am, while the Engineering stream key was issued on May 12 at 11 am. Candidates were given time to raise objections, with the deadline set for May 13 for A&P and May 14 for Engineering. A committee reviewed the objections before finalising the results.
Instant Marking System
The board, for the first time, introduced an instant marking system, through which students could check their marks for each answer and get an idea of their probable score.

While announcing the result, education secretary Dr Yogitha Rana said, “The extraordinary results today don’t just reflect their personal brilliance but also the high academic standards of the state.”
