Vijayawada: Authorities have enhanced preparations for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services preliminary examination scheduled for May 24, emphasizing security, candidate facilitation, and heat-related precautions amid prevailing summer conditions.

Comprehensive Preparations Underway

Officials confirmed that arrangements are being finalized to ensure the smooth conduct of the highly competitive examination. Coordination among multiple departments, including revenue, police, health, transport, municipal, and power utilities, has been established to address all logistical and security requirements.

In Vijayawada alone, a total of 10,119 candidates are expected to appear across 23 examination centers. Authorities have urged candidates to arrive well in advance, as entry into examination halls will not be permitted after the stipulated reporting time.

The preliminary examination will be conducted in two sessions: Paper I from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and Paper II from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Officials have clearly stated that mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and other prohibited items will not be allowed inside examination centers. Venue supervisors, invigilators, and inspection teams have been deployed to oversee the conduct and ensure strict compliance with UPSC guidelines.

Heat-Related Precautions

Given the intense summer conditions, authorities are planning arrangements such as drinking water and medical support at all centers. Uninterrupted power supply and logistical coordination are also being prioritized to create a comfortable environment for candidates.
