377 Institutes Meet at Visva-Bharati for VIKAS 2025

Historic Education Summit Kicks Off at Visva-Bharati

In a significant development for India's eastern and northeastern education landscape, 377 higher education institutes are set to participate in the VIKAS 2025 conference at Visva-Bharati University this Friday. This marks the first time in two decades that the prestigious institution is hosting such a major zonal conference organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Focus on NEP 2020 Implementation and Knowledge Sharing

The conference will primarily focus on the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, with simultaneous sessions dedicated to the Business Academy Meet. According to UGC joint secretary Avichal Raj Kapoor, this event serves as a crucial platform for educational leaders to share experiences and best practices.

"This is an event to share each other's experiences," Kapoor emphasized. "Vice-chancellors and principals will take the experience from here and implement it in each university, creating a ripple effect of improvement across the higher education sector."

Prestigious Gathering with Multiple Technical Sessions

Visva-Bharati Vice-Chancellor Probir Kumar Ghosh expressed pride in hosting this educational milestone, noting that the event will feature five technical sessions primarily discussing student-centric issues within the NEP 2020 framework.

The conference boasts an impressive roster of attendees including former UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, UGC secretary Manish Joshi, joint secretary Kapoor, and NCVET chairman Nirmaljit Singh Kalsi, an IAS officer. VB PRO Atig Ghosh expressed hope that hosting this event would foster more such productive engagements in the future.

This gathering represents one of the most significant educational conferences in the region, bringing together the collective wisdom of 377 institutions to shape the future of higher education in eastern and northeastern India through collaborative implementation of the National Education Policy.
