Bar Council of India Conducts Virtual Inspection at Patna Law College
A significant step was taken in the expansion of legal education in Bihar as a Bar Council of India (BCI) team conducted a comprehensive online inspection of Patna Law College on Wednesday. The primary objective of this virtual assessment was to evaluate the college's proposal for introducing a five-year integrated BBA LLB (Honours) course, which is slated to commence from the 2026–27 academic session.
Inspection Team Led by Retired High Court Judge
The inspection was headed by retired Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shashi Kant Gupta, bringing considerable judicial expertise to the evaluation process. The team comprised distinguished members including Grijesh Shukla and Rinka Warli, both academics with substantial experience in legal education, along with advocate Sai Giridhar. This diverse team ensured a thorough examination of both academic and practical aspects of the proposed program.
Comprehensive Virtual Assessment of College Facilities
During the extensive virtual visit, the BCI team meticulously reviewed various facilities crucial for legal education. They examined classrooms, the library, language lab, common room, and other essential infrastructure through digital means. The inspection went beyond physical facilities as team members actively interacted with teachers, administrative staff, and students to gain insights into the institution's academic environment and support systems.
College Leadership Presents Academic Framework
College principal Yogendra Kumar Verma welcomed the inspection team and provided a detailed briefing about the institution's academic and administrative setup. The presentation highlighted the college's readiness to implement the new integrated program and its commitment to maintaining educational standards. The session was attended by prominent figures including Patna University law faculty dean Md Sharif and former principal Vani Bhushan, demonstrating institutional support for the initiative.
Strategic Move in Legal Education Expansion
This inspection represents a strategic development in Bihar's higher education landscape, particularly in the field of legal studies. The proposed BBA LLB (Honours) program aims to combine business administration with legal education, creating a unique interdisciplinary approach that could produce graduates with both commercial acumen and legal expertise. The successful implementation of this program would mark a significant enhancement of Patna Law College's academic offerings and potentially influence legal education standards in the region.
Media in-charge Birendra Kumar confirmed the proceedings and noted the collaborative spirit of the inspection. The outcome of this assessment will determine whether Patna Law College receives approval to launch the innovative five-year integrated program, which could begin transforming legal education in Bihar from the 2026–27 academic year onward.
