The higher education department of Odisha has issued an advertisement inviting applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor at Berhampur University (BU). The current Vice-Chancellor, Geetanjali Dash, will complete her four-year tenure on May 6, 2026. The advertisement was released on Wednesday, seeking qualified candidates to fill the position.
Eligibility Criteria for Vice-Chancellor Post
As per the official notification, applicants must be distinguished academicians with proven administrative experience and a well-rounded professional record. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience as a professor in a university system or 10 years in an equivalent position in a reputed academic or research institution. The upper age limit for applicants is 66 years as on August 7, 2026. The selected candidate will serve a tenure of four years.
Application Process and Deadlines
Applications must be submitted through email by May 24, 2026. Hard copies of the applications should reach the authorities by speed post on or before May 29, 2026. Candidates are advised to ensure that both the email and hard copy submissions are completed within the specified deadlines.
Selection Procedure
Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear before a three-member selection committee. The final appointment will be made by the Governor of Odisha, who also serves as the Chancellor of state universities.
