BHU Hosts National Seminar on Dr. Ambedkar's Vision for Inclusive India
On Tuesday, a significant national seminar was held at the KN Uduppa auditorium, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. The event, organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, focused on the theme “Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar: Role of Education, Justice and Equality in the Making of an Inclusive India.” This gathering brought together academic leaders and government officials to reflect on Ambedkar's enduring legacy.

In his presidential address, BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi described Dr. Ambedkar's life as a unique example of struggle, foresight, and vision. He emphasized that Ambedkar's pivotal role in drafting the Constitution established a robust foundation for equal opportunity, freedom of expression, and social justice in India. Prof. Chaturvedi highlighted how Ambedkar, overcoming challenging circumstances, carved out a distinguished position for himself through education, with his work as Chairman of the Drafting Committee being profoundly significant for the nation's development.

Mukesh Kumar Meshram, Additional Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Government, addressed the audience, stating that education serves as the true medium of revolution, capable of transforming society through innovative ideas. Meshram stressed the importance of self-reliance and ambitious dreaming as essential components for building an inclusive and equitable society.

Keynote speaker Prof. MP Ahirwar, Head of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology at BHU's Faculty of Arts, provided a comprehensive overview of Dr. Ambedkar's contributions. He argued that Ambedkar's influence cannot be confined to any single section of society, detailing his ideas across various domains:
- Granting industry status to agriculture to boost economic growth.
- Advocating for the nationalisation of resources to ensure equitable distribution.

Prof. SN Sankhwar, Director of the Institute of Medical Sciences at BHU, concluded the seminar by noting that Dr. Ambedkar's life continues to inspire discipline, scholarship, and a strong sense of duty.
