BHU Establishes Steering Committee to Accelerate South Campus Development
In a strategic initiative to foster the expansion of its south campus, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has officially formed a steering committee. This move is designed to enhance the involvement of faculty members in the daily governance and operational aspects of the Rajiv Gandhi South Campus (RGSC), located in Barkachha, Mirzapur district.
Committee Aims to Elevate Campus Standards
The newly constituted committee is tasked with ensuring active contributions from faculty, with the primary objective of raising the academic, research, administrative, and infrastructural benchmarks of the extensive 2,700-acre campus. By integrating faculty expertise into decision-making processes, BHU aims to create a more collaborative environment that supports holistic growth.
BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi emphasized the importance of this development, stating, "We are committed to ensuring that the South Campus progresses at a pace comparable to the North Campus. This committee will play a crucial role in engaging stakeholders to drive the campus's advancement." He further added, "It will be instrumental in enhancing the research ecosystem and improving campus infrastructure at RGSC, paving the way for future innovations."
Leadership and Membership Structure
The steering committee will be led by the professor in-charge of RGSC, who will serve as the chairperson. The deputy registrar or assistant registrar of the campus will act as the member-secretary, ensuring smooth coordination and implementation of committee decisions.

- Prof Subhash Pratap Singh
- Dr Manoj Kumar Singh
