BHU Students Excel at National Youth Festival in Chennai

Students from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi delivered an outstanding performance at the National Youth Festival, held in Chennai from March 10 to 14, securing gold medals in multiple prestigious categories. The event highlighted the university's prowess in classical and light classical vocal music, debate, and fine arts, with participants earning accolades for their exceptional skills and dedication.

Gold Medal Triumphs in Vocal Music

In the classical singing category, Ishan impressed the judges with two compositions in Raag Malkauns. He performed a vilambit composition titled ‘Mandir baaje, jhaanjh mridang daf,’ set in ektal, followed by a drut composition ‘Har Har Mahadev...,’ set in teental. His mastery of rhythm and melody earned him a gold medal, showcasing the depth of traditional Indian music training at BHU.

For light classical singing, Satyam Mishra presented a Meera Bhajan in Raag Bhairavi, accompanied by Piyush Shah on tabla and Harshit Pal Dhankar on harmonium. This performance not only demonstrated technical proficiency but also emotional expression, securing another gold medal for the university in this category.

Success in Fine Arts and Literary Competitions

The fine arts segment saw BHU students earning medals as well. Pawan Kumar Chaurasiya was awarded a bronze medal in on-the-spot painting, while Suyash Maurya secured a silver medal in poster making. In the literary category, Sushri Naina Yadav and Harshit Shrivastava won a silver medal in the Hindi debate competition.
