The higher education department in Bihar has stepped up preparations to commence academic sessions in 211 newly established degree colleges across the state from July 1, under the government's Saat Nishchay-3 programme. This initiative is aimed at expanding access to higher education in blocks that currently lack degree colleges.
Addressing the Gap
Out of the state's 534 blocks, 211 do not have affiliated or constituent degree colleges. To bridge this gap, the government has directed that teaching begin in these new institutions from the upcoming academic session. The process of appointing principals, faculty members, and non-teaching staff is currently underway, while arrangements are also being made for infrastructure and other essential facilities.
Preparations Underway
Higher Education Director N K Agrawal stated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure classes start on schedule. The department is working diligently to complete the recruitment and infrastructure setup in time for the July 1 deadline.
This move is part of the state's broader effort to enhance educational opportunities and ensure that students in rural and underserved areas have access to higher education close to their homes.
