Buxar Engineering College Focuses on Student Mental Wellness and Career Opportunities
A significant seminar dedicated to mental health and inner wellness was successfully conducted at the Government Engineering College (GEC) in Buxar this past Saturday. The event aimed to foster awareness among the student community regarding mental wellbeing, cultivating positive thinking, and achieving inner peace.
Ceremonial Start and Key Messages on Mental Balance
The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, performed by Principal Ram Naresh Rai alongside distinguished guests from the Brahma Kumaris spiritual organization. In his address to the assembled students and faculty, Principal Rai underscored the critical importance of maintaining mental equilibrium in today's rapidly evolving and high-pressure environment.
He articulated that beyond academic achievements, the cultivation of positive thinking and self-control is fundamental for holistic personal and professional development. Another prominent speaker, Dharamendra Bhaiya from Brahma Kumaris, reinforced this message, stating that peace of mind and a positive mindset are indispensable keys to success. He actively encouraged students to integrate regular meditation practices into their daily routines to effectively manage stress and bolster self-confidence.
Parallel Campus Placement Drive Yields Employment for 10 Students
In a concurrent initiative aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry, the college organized a campus placement drive in collaboration with SLMG Beverages, the official bottling partner for Coca-Cola. The recruitment process saw participation from forty final-year engineering students who initially undertook a written examination.
From this pool, 27 candidates progressed to the group discussion round, with 16 advancing further to the technical and personal interview stages. The final interviews were conducted by Pushpak Srivastava, the General Manager of Human Resources at SLMG Beverages. Following a rigorous selection process, ten students were successfully offered employment positions at the company's Buxar plant, while the results for two additional candidates were held in reserve.
College Leadership Applauds Dual Initiatives
Principal Ram Naresh Rai extended his congratulations to the newly selected students, emphasizing the vital role such placement drives play in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical industry requirements. The logistical coordination for the placement event was managed by Training and Placement Officer (TPO) Coordinator Gaurav Parmar and Dean of Academics, Anjani Kumar Tiwari. The mental health seminar itself was hosted by Assistant Professor Surbhi Rani, ensuring the event's smooth execution and engagement.
This dual-focused event at GEC Buxar highlights the institution's commitment to addressing both the psychological wellbeing and the career preparedness of its students, recognizing these as complementary pillars for building a resilient and successful future generation of engineers.
