Churachandpur College Launches Innovative Mentorship Portal for Women's Empowerment
In a significant move to empower women across the region, Churachandpur College has launched a dedicated Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) mentorship portal. The initiative, unveiled on Thursday as part of International Women’s Week celebrations, aims to provide comprehensive guidance, support, and resources to promote education, skill development, and career growth for women and girls.
A Safe Digital Space for Women
Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S officially launched the e-platform, describing it as an all-women, safe, and empowering digital space. The portal is specifically designed to connect women leaders and professionals from diverse fields with students and young women who are in need of mentorship and career counselling.
The platform facilitates meaningful connections between mentors and mentees based on areas of expertise and interest, offering tailored guidance for personal development and professional advancement. Educational institutions, mentors, and students can all utilize the platform to find suitable matches according to their specific requirements and goals.
Confidential Safe Channel for Reporting Harassment
One of the most notable features of this innovative portal is the "Safe Channel" functionality. This confidential mechanism allows girl students to securely report incidents of harassment, share grievances, and seek immediate assistance. All concerns submitted through this channel are received and addressed by appropriate authorities, thereby strengthening the district's support ecosystem for young women.
BBBP branch officer Teresa Tangpua Jr MCS highlighted the uniqueness of this initiative, stating that "the portal is interesting, unique, and innovative in the Indian context." She emphasized how the platform will guide users through the mentorship matching process, ensuring effective connections and support.
Global Reach and Collaborative Development
The mentorship program was organized at the college conference hall by the women empowerment committee in collaboration with the district administration's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. The event received considerable appreciation from attendees who recognized the portal's potential impact.
The e-platform has been developed in partnership with local IT start-up BuildnBIT Pvt. Ltd., showcasing how technology can be leveraged for social empowerment. A particularly exciting aspect of the portal is its global reach—women mentors from across the world can register on the platform, enabling girl students from the Churachandpur region to gain exposure to diverse professional experiences and international perspectives.
This comprehensive approach to women's empowerment through digital mentorship represents a forward-thinking strategy that combines education, technology, and community support to create meaningful opportunities for women's advancement in both local and global contexts.
