Chanakya National Law University Unveils New M.Sc in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics

Patna's Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) has officially announced the launch of a comprehensive two-year Master of Science (M.Sc) programme in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (CSDF). This innovative academic offering is scheduled to commence from the 2026–28 academic session, marking a significant expansion in the university's curriculum.

Programme Structure and Career Pathways

Registrar S P Singh detailed that the programme is meticulously designed to equip students for more than 21 distinct career roles across four specialized tracks. These tracks include industry, judiciary, law enforcement and national security, as well as policy and governance. The curriculum aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the rapidly evolving field of cyber security.

Strategic Partnerships for Enhanced Learning

To ensure students receive exposure to real-world challenges, CNLU has forged Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several prominent national and international institutions. Key partners include the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CCoE), the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), Bihar Police, and the Bihar Institute of Correctional Administration.

These collaborations are expected to provide practitioner-led training and hands-on experience, enabling students to tackle contemporary cyber threats effectively.

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure

In support of the new programme, CNLU has established a cutting-edge cyber security and digital forensics centre. This facility features a high-end digital forensic lab with a capacity of 60 seats, specifically designed for immersive, hands-on training sessions. The lab is equipped with advanced tools and technologies to simulate real-world scenarios.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

The full-time, on-campus course is open to graduates from all academic disciplines. Eligibility requirements vary by category:

  • General, Backward Class (BC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in their undergraduate studies.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates require at least 50% marks.

The total intake for the programme is capped at 60 seats. Admission will be conducted through a two-step process:

  1. The CNLU M.Sc Entrance Test, scheduled for June 13.
  2. A subsequent interview for shortlisted candidates.

Applications for the programme will close on June 7, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply promptly to secure their opportunity.

This initiative underscores CNLU's commitment to addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in cyber security and digital forensics, aligning with national priorities in technology and security.
