The Department of Higher Education has stepped into an ongoing dispute concerning the sports ground at PM College of Excellence and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore. The intervention follows multiple complaints about private coaching organizations using the college sports facility for several months.
Department Takes Notice After Student Complaints
Senior education officials confirmed that the department initiated a detailed review after local reports highlighted the persistent use of the college ground by private groups. The situation had been causing significant inconvenience to students and staff who found themselves unable to access their own sports facilities.
RC Dixit, Additional Director of Higher Education in Indore, took immediate action by issuing an official notice to the college administration. The notice demanded a clear explanation of the situation and the measures taken to address it. When the college failed to provide a written response, Dixit personally visited the campus to assess the conditions firsthand.
Ground Inspection and Evidence Collection
During his site visit, the additional director conducted a thorough inspection of the sports ground and documented the current situation through photographs for official records. Department officials emphasized that the review became necessary due to two critical factors: the ongoing unauthorized use of government property and the increasing number of complaints from students and college staff.
According to department sources, the college administration informally communicated that their previous attempts to resolve the matter independently had proven unsuccessful. Despite the college's efforts, the private coaching groups continued to conduct their fitness sessions on the ground every morning without interruption.
The college administration admitted that they had not issued direct instructions to vacate the premises, which prompted education officials to demand a comprehensive factual report detailing all aspects of the situation.
Safety Concerns and Future Action
The Department of Higher Education has also noted a recent incident where several youths attempted to enter a faculty building and engaged in arguments with an employee who tried to stop them. Officials expressed concern that such incidents raise serious security issues that need immediate attention.
The department has formally asked the college to explain the steps taken so far to address both the sports ground issue and the security concerns. Simultaneously, the education authorities have sought detailed information from both the district administration and local police regarding the matter.
Education officials confirmed that once all reports are received and reviewed, the department will decide on appropriate further action. The primary objective remains restoring regular student access to the sports ground and ensuring that the campus maintains proper order and security for all legitimate users.
