JSS College of Pharmacy Provides Free Education to Daughter of Late Tribal Artist
In a heartening development for educational access, K Vasuki, the daughter of the late Padma Shri awardee and renowned tribal artist R Krishnan from the Kurumba tribal community of Tamil Nadu, has been granted free admission along with complimentary hostel facilities at JSS College of Pharmacy in Ooty. This initiative comes as a significant relief after the financial difficulties that arose following her father's untimely death, which had threatened to derail her academic aspirations in pharmaceutical sciences.
Financial Hardship and Timely Intervention
Vasuki successfully completed her higher secondary education and harbored a strong desire to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sciences. However, the passing of her father, R Krishnan, who was celebrated for his contributions to tribal art, created substantial financial constraints that jeopardized her educational journey. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Nilgiris District Collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, stepped in to facilitate her admission. The collector proactively contacted the authorities at JSS College of Pharmacy in Ooty to explore possible solutions for supporting Vasuki's academic pursuits.

Upon being informed about Vasuki's plight, Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami issued a directive to the institution, instructing them to admit the student without charging any tuition or hostel fees.
