GTU Reopens CCC Exam Registration for Gujarat Government Employees
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has officially reopened registrations for the Triple C (CCC) exam, a mandatory basic computer proficiency test for state government employees. The registration deadline is set for April 30, providing a crucial window for applicants to secure their spots.
High Demand and Limited Centers Cause Inconvenience
Despite significant demand, particularly from Ahmedabad, candidates are facing substantial inconvenience due to a severe shortage of exam centers. Currently, only two institutions—GTU and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University—are conducting the CCC exam. This limitation stems from Gujarat University's decision not to resume the exam, which previously helped distribute the candidate load across three universities, easing the process for all involved.
Exam Process Stretched Over Months
According to sources, approximately 11,000 candidates registered for the exam in 2025. Since the test is conducted exclusively on weekends, the entire examination process for all applicants takes nearly eight to 10 months to complete. For instance, exams that commenced in May of last year were not finalized until February, highlighting the extended timeline and backlog issues.
Controversies and Capacity Constraints
The situation has deteriorated further after Gujarat University discontinued the exam following a controversy related to malpractice. No significant action or investigation has been completed in that case to date. Consequently, candidates now rely solely on the limited capacity of the remaining universities, exacerbating delays and logistical challenges.
Interestingly, GTU itself has faced its own controversy involving marks manipulation, where an IT employee was suspended. However, further action in this matter remains pending. Despite these ongoing issues, GTU has persisted with the exam process, with more than 7,000 candidates already registered this year. The number is expected to surpass 10,000 soon, indicating continued high demand amid the constraints.
Impact on Government Employees
The CCC exam is a critical requirement for many state government employees, either after securing a job or during their service tenure. The current bottlenecks not only delay certification but also affect career progression and administrative efficiency. Candidates are urged to register promptly before the April 30 deadline to avoid missing out on this essential qualification.
