HPU Scholars and Faculty Trained in Gender-Based Perspective Integration
A significant workshop focused on integrating gender into curriculum and research was conducted at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) in Shimla. The event, held on Wednesday, trained approximately 130 research scholars and young faculty members, aiming to embed a gender-based perspective into education and research practices.

The one-day workshop was organized by the university's Centre for Women's Studies and Development, with the theme of integrating gender into curriculum and research. It received financial support under the PM-USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) scheme, highlighting government backing for such initiatives.
Key Speakers and Insights
Prof Joginder S Dhiman, Dean of planning and teachers matters, served as the chief guest. He emphasized that integrating gender equality into education and research is crucial for fostering inclusive and balanced societal development, calling it a timely necessity.
Prof Pardeep Kumar, Director of the Centre of Distance and Online Education (CDOE), was the guest of honour. He noted that gender inclusion is a key aspect of the National Education Policy (NEP) and stressed the importance of effectively incorporating it into academic curricula.
Prof Aparna Negi, Director of the Centre for Women's Studies and Development, stated that gender equality is not just a concept but a foundation for holistic societal progress. She encouraged participants to prioritize a gender perspective in their studies and research to promote gender empowerment and justice in society.
Resource Persons and Practical Guidance
As resource persons, Prof Meenakshi F Paul and Prof KK Sharma shared valuable insights with the attendees. They explained the importance of using appropriate language and its role in promoting gender sensitivity, providing practical tools for implementation.
