IIT-Patna Launches Six-Day Faculty Development Program at Buxar Engineering College
A comprehensive six-day Short-Term Faculty Development Programme (FDP) has officially commenced at Government Engineering College (GEC) in Buxar, starting this Monday. This significant educational initiative is being conducted by the prestigious Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at IIT-Patna, in strategic collaboration with Bihar Engineering University.
Inauguration and Key Addresses
The programme was formally inaugurated by chief guest T N Singh, Director of IIT-Patna, who delivered an inspiring address to faculty participants. In his remarks, Director Singh emphasized the critical importance of such specialized training programmes in equipping faculty members with modern teaching methodologies, current research developments, and emerging technological innovations. He stressed that these initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the overall quality of technical education across institutions.
Principal Ram Naresh Rai of GEC Buxar highlighted the institution's ongoing progress toward achieving academic excellence and professional development through such collaborative efforts.
Programme Coordination and Structure
The programme features dedicated coordination from both institutions. S K Parida from IIT-Patna serves as the primary coordinator, while Abhinav Kumar Singh acts as the college coordinator for the FDP at GEC Buxar.
On the inaugural Monday, participants engaged in four intensive sessions, with two delivered by coordinator S K Parida and two by college coordinator Abhinav Kumar Singh, setting a robust foundation for the week-long programme.
Participation and Institutional Support
The FDP has attracted substantial interest, with a total of 87 participants registered for the programme. Approximately 55 faculty members attended the sessions in person at the college campus, while the remaining participants joined through online platforms, demonstrating the programme's hybrid accessibility.
At the institutional level, the FDP is being coordinated through the collective efforts of a dedicated team from GEC Buxar, including:
